How to embrace being multi passionate in business

HOW TO EMBRACE BEING MULTI PASSIONATE IN BUSINESS

How did Kerri embrace being multi passionate in business?

In this lockdown episode Danielle chats to Kerri Gravina. Kerri is a Chef, Clairvoyant and Community Development Coordinator, and has embraced a love of helping others across her multi-passionate career.

As a child Kerri spent hours alongside her Nonna, learning to cook and make things with her hands. She embraced her psychic abilities from a young age but was often misunderstood and labelled a problem child through school. It was through these experiences that her multi-passionate life began.

Kerri shares how she creatively moved through life with a strong work ethic. And how she has now embraced working in each of her passions, despite facing imposter syndrome and pressures from the industry she was working in.

Proudly presented by Danielle Price, Founder of She Will Shine.

How did Cath overcome failure to achieve success?

In this lockdown episode Danielle chats to She Will Shine Member, Cath Connell. Cath is a Marketing Consultant, Coach, and the Creator of Wholehearted Marketing, where she focuses on small business marketing with a human touch.

Beginning her career as a Graphic Designer, Cath further pursued a career in Marketing, returning to study while holding down a full-time job and having a young child. Although highly motivated and determined to succeed, she soon realised that she was really struggling; missing out on so much with her son, not seeing her friends and her health going downhill.

With dreams of building a big business empire Cath shares how a failed business opened her eyes to what success truly meant for her. While financially the business failure hit her hard, it also opened her eyes to a different type of life. One where her marriage, son, health and friendships were her greatest successes.

Despite the grief she experienced from losing her business, she decided to start back on that business journey again. But this time with a different perspective.

Cath shares how the the fear of failure still lingers, but that she now considers her life and current business a real success. And how it has allowed her to experience and enjoy other aspects of life.

How did Rebecca start her Family Law Firm?

HOW DID REBECCA START HER FAMILY LAW FIRM?

How did Rebecca start her Family Law Firm?

In this episode Danielle talks to She Will Shine Member, Rebecca McGowan. Rebecca is the Director and Principal Lawyer of McGowan Family Law, an Accredited Family Law Specialist, Independent Children’s Lawyer and Mindset & Empowerment Coach at The Separation Coach.

Coming from a single parent family from early childhood, Rebecca always understood what children needed during this difficult time in their lives. It was this very personal insight that propelled her to pursue a career in Family Law and ultimately open her own practise.

Rebecca shares her journey and how she had no idea what she was in for, working in firms which were not aligned with her own values, as well as working in a male dominated industry and experiencing unkind and sexist behaviour. It was this that motivated her to prove her critics wrong and be the best she could possibly be.

Experiencing the effects of a high pressure and stressful job on her mental health, Rebecca has also realised the importance of setting boundaries and is focusing on how she can take her own wellbeing and her family’s wellbeing to another level. And she is now embracing being able to bring that passion and empowerment to her clients.

Exercise 1:

I am having the thought that…
Thoughts are not facts and we can practice to distance ourselves from unhelpful thoughts that become overwhelming and interfere with our everyday lives. We need to remember that our brain continuously produces thoughts, we can’t control this.

When you notice a thought that is unhelpful, stresses or worries you, replay that thought in your mind by adding “I am having the thought that…” in front of it. In most cases it creates a bit of distance, enough distance to consider that our thought might actually not be true, and therefore it loses some of its power over us.

Example:
Your thought is:
A friend hasn’t checked in with me for days now. They don’t care about me.

Try:
I am having the thought that they don’t care about me.

Exercise 2:

54321. An exercise to orient yourself in your environment, engage your senses, and focus on the present moment.

Look around and…

  • Look for 5 things you can see
  • Become aware of 4 things you can touch
  • Acknowledge 3 things you can hear
  • Notice 2 things you can smell
  • Become aware of 1 thing you can taste

Name each of the things you can see, touch, hear, smell, taste.

Repeat the five steps until you get a sense of feeling calmer.

This can also be practiced with another person, e.g. with your child.
