Kelly is a musician and music teacher by trade but also holds an associate degree in Interior Design from RMIT. She is trained in flute, voice, interior design, and education. After a career as a music teacher and freelance musician, Pascoe Tales is her suburban tree-change.
Why open Pascoe Tales? Every time I wanted to buy a good quality, eco-friendly, animal free gift, I had to travel long distances or go to the surrounding shopping centres. Options were often limited and mass produced, missing that handmade individuality and care.
My mum started the Dingley Market in the 70’s and I spent years going with her to markets, developing a love for and appreciation of handmade goods. I believe in supporting local makers, designers and companies and love seeing them shine. With this in mind, I wanted to return to village life and community and open a shop similar to the beautiful stores in areas such as Yarraville, Thornbury, Northcote and Brunswick.
As someone who cares about our environment and is an animal lover, it is important to me that all of my products are eco-friendly and animal free. Being in the middle of the supply chain, I am able to work with suppliers to source locally made products and help break the cycle of excess and wastage, while prioritising those suppliers who create eco and animal-friendly products.
Where an Australia maker is designing here but manufacturing overseas, I ensure the designer is passionate about ethical pay and working conditions and has the processes in place to ensure adherence to these standards throughout their manufacturing process.
I want to showcase beautiful products, locally made, that you will fall in love with.
I want to support local makers, giving them the opportunity to showcase their talents and skills.
I want to provide workshops in arts, crafts and music where all are welcome, encouraged and free to explore their talents and find new ones.
